Jogjakarta - Searching Mbah Iman

Just like Blues song lyric, we woke up early in the first morning in our Godean basecamp. Coffe, Tea, Snacks and Cigarettes were ready. Five middle aged men looking for one bathroom, oh we forgot to bring towels, tooth paste, gilette etc.

Soon after our rent Van arrived and we picked Wid and went to Cangkringan near Mount Merapi. it was a quiet village which also shadowed by Mount Merapi Lava, there's evacuation road and path, just in case eruption occurred.

Purwoko and Arief still remembered the place they took photograph more than a year ago, it was Arief who took the photograph.

After stopping almost every ten minutes, soon we knew the name is Mbah Iman. We met his wife in their house, and informed that Mbah Iman was working in rice field. After chasing, then we met ask Mbah Iman permission to use his photograph.

Jogjakarta - First Night

Eagles have landed!


After delayed for almost 3 hours in Jakarta, then we arrived in Adi Sucipto, the van we hired already there. so we went to base camp immediately (actually it's our friend's Grandmother house which we use as a base camp to keep accommodation cost as low as possible)

after say hi in base camp, then we went to Alun-alun for Mie Rebus, I called Wid and asked him if he could join us. we had a brief chat and made plan for tomorrow morning.

I pushed my Tmax 400 to 3200

Jogjakarta – Overture

Purwoko sent me e-mail, stating that they (he and his friends) had a mission to find out people they photographed, and seek their permission for their pictures were used as greeting cards, calendars and so on in Purwoko’s Company.

I immediately called my wife for permission and after granted, sent e-mail immediately to purwoko that I positively join the tour.

It was like Steve McCurry with his Afghan Girl, We only know the places in general and try to find out the faces in pictures.

So we go to Jogja; Me, Evodius Purwoko, Denny Feblu, Jusuf Arief, Tigor Peetosutan, Rizal I Sjahid for them and asked Wid the whiz kid to accompany us.
